Success Food

People all have their habits and idiosyncrasies. Many people believe in superstition. I think that most people have their own way of celebrating success. For me, I use food. If things go very well at work or in life I like to eat certain favorite foods. These include spaghetti and anything sweet. This is a great reward after a job well done. It also happens to be reminiscent of a slogan in Japan where students that are taking exams can celebrate with Kit Kat candy bars that say “kitto katsu!”

    Yukiyo San,

Thank you for sharing! I think Japanese is much more elegant in this way than English. We simply eat foods that we like as a reward for doing well. Sometimes we will still eat foods that we like if we fail in order to feel better. We don’t really choose foods for good luck like you do in Japan. For this reason, we usually eat “reward” foods after we do something and not before. After reading you blog, I think I need to eat more 豚カツ! After all, it is a favorite Japanese food of mine.
