Haiku Poem

tranquil surface
above rotten, concealed
bones of a tree

表層に隠した腐敗枝の骨
ひょうそう に かくした ふはい えだ の ほね

I went out on the lake by our house with my wife, and we both wanted to tie the boat up at one of the shores and get out for a swim. I was searching for a branch or something to tie it to, and found to my dismay that all of the branches lying below the surface stank of decay. The smell was not unlike feces.
