Flying is fun! In fact, it is really exciting to fly without an engine! It may sound frightening, but many people fly gliders for enjoyment. In order to takeoff, another plane has to tow the glider down the runway and help it climb to a safe altitude. Then, the glider is released and can fly by itself. With strong winds, the glider can even climb higher on its own. When the glider finally starts to sink, it is time to turn toward the runway and land. Unlike flying with a motor, gliders are very quiet. Flying a glider is probably the closest thing to flying like a bird. But, I had to warn Michiko San, not to cross the runway!
