The swell from Tahiti arrived very early on Friday, May 17. It was predicted to start in the late afternoon but got here a little bit earlier. Both of the submarines were towed out to the dive site. Not only did both submarines go out, we went out an hour earlier than usual because we had a big school group. The tow out was somewhat rough but not too bad but looking at the waves breaking up when they reached the shallow area was an amazing sight. All of the usual boats were able to leave the harbor but tomorrow Is supposed to be the peak of the swell so I am not sure if they will be able to. Once we got to the dive site the 8:00 all the way until the 12:00 show were canceled as the current, and visibility were very bad. After waiting for about a half an hour the rest of the day was canceled and we returned back to pier 40. Early this evening I received a call from my Supervisor telling me not to come in on Saturday as it is supposed to get worse! On Sunday the Honolulu Triathalon is being held and I
hope the swimmers will be OK. If you have a chance go and see the big waves tomorrow!
