Letter from Sakai

For 3 days I left Sakai and returned home to Miyazaki on Kyushu. My mom and dad both live at home now. Recently, my father who is nearing retirement age is dreaming about life after retirement. He is excited and seems to be doing lots of different things with his free time. With regard to father being this way, mom seems to feel a little angry that he is just being selfish. Mom is secretly making plans to leave home to get back at dad a little. So, mom plans to travel by herself to Germany in December. Mom is looking forward to seeing the surprise on dad’s face.

3日間、堺を離れ、実家のある九州の宮崎に帰省していました。 今、実家には、父と母が住んでいます。 最近、定年退職前の父が、定年後の生活を夢見て、気分が高揚して、いろいろいらんことをしているようです。 そんな父に対して、母は、 「自分勝手なことばっかりしてる！」 と、少し怒っているようです。 母は父に仕返ししようと、ひそかに、プチ家出計画を練っています。 それは12月に、ドイツに一人旅に行く計画です。 父の驚く顔が楽しみだそうです。
