ひをおおう　やみのめいろに　たちどまる


Lost within the jaws
of a night that swallows day
I must quit the path.

I wrote this to participate in the Arizona DOT’s campaign to promote awareness of the danger of sandstorms called “haboobs”. I’ve never been to Arizona nor had I ever heard of a haboob before, but hey, I’m getting kind of good at making haiku so what the hell?

私は、この俳句を、アリゾナ州交通局の「ハブーブ」と云う砂嵐の危険性を訴える為のキャンペーン、ツイッターでの俳句募集に参加する為に書きました。私は、アリゾナに行ったことはありませんし、ハブーブと云う言葉を聞いたこともありません。しかしそれがどうしたと言うのですか。私は、日々、俳句の腕を磨き、俳句の腕をあげています。だから、やっちゃいます。
