Flying

Flying airplanes has been a hobby of mine for a long time. I got my private pilot license a little over ten years ago and often fly smaller planes like Cessna 172s. I like to fly because it makes you feel very free. If you want to go up, down, or turn around, it is all up to you, just like a bird. Furthermore, especially in Hawaii, there are some amazing views. Of course, there is actually a lot that you have to know. You have to learn a lot of aviation rules, become more knowledgeable about weather, and be willing to talk on a radio. Plus, flying a plane is not as easy as it looks, since you have to constantly monitor a lot of information from your speed, to your altitude, to the performance of the engine. Although it takes a long time to learn all of this and get proficient at flying, I think it is worth it because flying is such an exhilarating activity.

Thank you for showing us a fantastic view of Waikiki, from behind so to speak. I’ve never seen the Diamondhead in this way. It would be great if you can show us more views of Hawaii (of course, within rules and regulations).

    Hi Ben,
That is so cool. How long did it take for you get the license? What are the requirements? Do yourself own a plane? Nice picture!!!

    Aloha

It took about a year to get a license. The requirements are on the FAA website and include a certain number of flying hours, passing a written exam, and completing a flying check ride with an FAA examiner. I don’t own my own plane and have been choosing to rent instead. If I can find any other worthwhile photos I might have more to post.
