Sapporo Ichiban

Welcome once again to my 4th entry here within our Nagaya. 🙂 Also Thank you to those of you who take the time to read.

Today I began my 3rd week of learning to speak Nihongo. Say it again, Rodoni. Ni-Ho-N-go. Sorry. That was me practicing to myself again. I was humbled today and reminded of perseverance. Throughout the weekend I studied hard and felt confident in my speaking ability. To find that I was brought back to earth to study the fundamentals yet again. A I U E O.

To be humbled like this was very important ot me. Since I have undertook learning to speak Nihongo, Others had suggested alternatives, Like free classes at high schools. Or the Rosetta Stone available for our computers. I know that neither of those were the right choice. How could a Rosetta stone humble me? How can a disc teach me to bow. Teach me my tone and pitch are way off? to speak like an emperor. 🙂 Clear and Crisp. Strong. I know that I will never fully master Japanese. I haven’t even fully mastered English. I still need a dictionary like everyone else. So with all of that said, I’d like to state that I am grateful and would now like to begin What I am here to talk about. 🙂

So now You got sucked into a two parter….that is if you’re still reading……Oh! You’re still here? Excellent. 🙂

The title reads “Sapporo Ichiban” And I am not talking about the ramen. I am here to tell the tale of the other Sapporo…The Biru. 🙂 And why it is my favorite, The best, Number one, Ichiban. per Michiko’s request. Please enjoy. 🙂

According to the can. It is Japan’s oldest brew. Dating back to 1876. So the can says.

With that said, If it is in fact Japan’s oldest brew. I’d like to say they got it right the first time. Asahi is Super Dry like they say they are and Kirin Ichiban, though named after a mythical creature doesn’t quite live up to the hype. It’s too sweet for a beer if you ask me.

Sapporo is Just right. Crisp, clear and strong. Like the emeperor. The funny thing is I cannot recall exactly when it became my favorite. Before Sapporo was the english beer, New Castle. Not taking anything away from New Castle, it’s still a great beer. I guess I got mesemerized by the invincible silver can that Sapporo has I haven’t looked back since. 🙂

And sadly, I hate to admit it, but According to the can Sapporo no longer comes from Japan but is now brewed in Canada.

And with that said I have been up waaaaaaaaay to long and need to rest. Thank you for reading (yomimashita?)

Oyasuminasai.
