In San Diego we have 2 fat cats, one little dog, and two old turtles that live in the back yard. While the cats and dog are young, the turtles have been around for over 40 years and are like older brothers.  When I see them I make their favorite food, a snail salad with strawberries and fruit. I often let them eat out of my hands but sometimes they get excited and bite my fingers. This has happened several times and every time, not only does it hurt, they leave funny triangle bite marks. Lucky for me though they only eat about twice a week.
