月刊雑誌、 「スミソニアン Smithsonian」 には、スミソニアン博物館における特別展示の知らせが掲載されます。9月号に、 「The Art of Gaman: Arts and Crafts from the Japanese American Internment Camps 1942-1946」　が、2011年1月30日まで展示されるとあります。日本語の我慢をそのままタイトルに使ったものですが、Gaman は、to bear the seemingly unbearable with dignity and patience　と説明してあります。
