Sightseeing in Nikko

This is the second to the last day of my trip. Today’s day was spent sightseeing in Nikko. Nikko is a beautiful town around 200km from Tokyo(I’m not too sure how many miles that is). But in any case it was about a two hour drive. The area around Nikko is pretty beautiful country, there were these old inns, as well as omiyage shops that line the street leading up to the road that leads up to the one of the more famous shrines in Japan, the Toshogu jinja. This is where Tokugawa Ieyasu is entombed. It’s one of the more extravagant and lavish shrines that I have been to. Thereafter we headed towards Kegon waterfall. Driving the winding road leading there is kind of like driving on the hana highway but on a better paved road. The winding road wraps around a beautiful mountain landscape sprinkled with flowery almost sakuda like trees. At the end of the road we finally came to kegon waterfalls and Lake Chuzenji. But anyway….That was my trip for today. I’ll post some pictures later.
