Europe 2006
Well!!! From Berlin we went on to the beautiful city of Prague. Has anyone been there? It was my first time and I liked it very much. I am in the habit now when I travel of seeking out the street art and buying the city scapes in ink. I picked one up from Prague this year as well as from Salzburg in Austria. They will compliment my art from Trier Germany. We also visited Budapest Hungary, which I definitely recommend, and Vienna. The highlights of the trip seemed to revolve around soccer! We caught the opening ceremonies of the 2006 World Cup in Berlin and a lot of pre-game atmosphere in Munich. The Brazilian fans are very energetic. Is anyone following the tournament like me?
Overall, it was a wonderful tour and the students all seemed happy. That makes me happy. See you from Seattle! Continue reading

Heta no yokozuki
“Heta no yokozuki” means someone who is passionate about something but is not good at it. It is often used when one is trying to be humble. If someone asks you if you … Continue reading

Preschool
Today, I played with two-year-olds at a preschool. Little kids are small and cute! It was fun. The smiling faces of those children made me so happy. Continue reading

A Short Day
Recently, the days are passing quickly. I forgot to take out the trash for one of the two pick-up days this week before I realized a week had already gone by. If you don’t pay attention, you get old before you know it. There are too many things I want to do and not enough time. Continue reading

My aunty has a friend in Japan who sends her all kinds of food, and my aunty gave this candy to me. Her friend is moving back to the US soon, though, so we won’t be getting anymore yummy candy. Shucks!

Kouya no shirobakama
“Kouya no shirobakama” means “the dyer’s white hakama.” Kouya is a dyer, as in a person who dyes cloth. Hakama were the formal divided skirts (think super-baggy bell bottoms) that the samurai and lords … Continue reading

Kareki mo yama no nigiwai
“Kareki mo yama no nigiwai” means “Even the dead trees contribute to the mountain’s prosperity.” This means that even the things we might think are useless, do play a part. Thinking of … Continue reading

Handsome Tofu
I bought the tofu that I have been wanting to eat for a long time.
It was tofu from the Otokomae (handsome) Tofu Shop. Actually, I wanted to eat the long, thin tofu from "Blown By The Wind Tofu Shop Johnny," but they were sold out. It’s a little expensive and I can’t buy it all the time, so I shared it with the juniors and seniors in my group. It had a mild taste and you could really taste the beans!
It was funny that my senior used this picture as her cell phone screen.

Continue reading
