Hello friends,

There is a terrific concert coming up on Wednesday night, Dec. 6, at Farrington HS. It is a charity concert put on jointly by New Hope Christian Fellowship and Moanalua HS Music Dept. The top band and top orchestra will play, so many of my students will be playing.  They will perform a lot of good music including "Winter" from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, with a violin
soloist that you will ALL recognize! The concert starts at 7:00 and cost is $10 at the door. All proceeds are given to a deserving charity.

Dear friends,

You are cordially invited to the Hawaii Music Teachers’ Association 39th Annual Convention Recital. The guest artists are from Hartford, CT, and I worked with them in graduate school. Luiz was my chamber music coach, and Bridget was the accompanist for both my recitals. They are fabulous. SO…they invited my violin ensemble to play, and me to play a solo with Bridget. The program is below. Tickets are $15/adults and $12/students and seniors over 65, and UH parking is $3 (sorry). The reception afterwards is hosted by my violin ensemble, Na Mele O Suzuki. Hope to see you there!

My angel

In early October, I came down with a bad case of the flu.  I was so sick that I only felt like laying in bed.  I did not go to work, and I felt totally weak.  One of my students’ moms called me up and said she was bringing me some soup for dinner, and also was bringing her portable massage table!  I said ok, and soon she appeared at my house.  She even brought   a CD of a light rainstorm, to relax my ears.   I had a very relaxing massage, which helped my sore back and neck.   When she was ready to leave, I felt so much better.  I told her she was my angel.  She said that her two small children often call her "Angel Mommy," and that it embarrasses her.  By the way, this woman happens to play the HARP… now isn’t that the instrument of an angel, after all?

Spicy food?

When I was growing up in Wisconsin, my mother cooked very bland food.
The only spice she used was salt.   So when I went to college, and started
eating in the dining hall, I had some very big surprises.   One day they
served pizza for lunch.  I heard my friends saying, "This pizza is terrible…
it has NO taste."   When I took my first bite, I thought my mouth was on
fire!  I was so embarrassed! Continue reading
