Europe 2006

Well!!! From Berlin we went on to the beautiful city of Prague. Has anyone been there? It was my first time and I liked it very much. I am in the habit now when I travel of seeking out the street art and buying the city scapes in ink. I picked one up from Prague this year as well as from Salzburg in Austria. They will compliment my art from Trier Germany. We also visited Budapest Hungary, which I definitely recommend, and Vienna. The highlights of the trip seemed to revolve around soccer! We caught the opening ceremonies of the 2006 World Cup in Berlin and a lot of pre-game atmosphere in Munich. The Brazilian fans are very energetic. Is anyone following the tournament like me?
Overall, it was a wonderful tour and the students all seemed happy. That makes me happy. See you from Seattle! Continue reading

Tour 06

Ahh Berlin– I love to be back in Germany. This is our 3rd stop on the tour. London was first and then Paris for two days. After this, we move on to Prague, Budapest and Vienna. I wish I could post a few pictures but it looks like I will not be able to. I have to wait. Thinking of my friends and family – hoping everyone is well and happy. Joyce Continue reading

Working Out

One of my goals this year was to establish a workout routine. I got helped along at school when the PE dept. started a faculty fitness program. I have made it to the weight room 2 or 3 morning a week and have built up to a mile run each morning I go! It feels great and I feel good throughout the day. I am eating more and better too. Working to add a yoga session or two in the week now, even if it is a video on Sunday morning to start the day.

Because I am tricky I was hatching this plan at Christmas already for all of us. I got Chad and Cian a basketball hoop from Santa! It is up now and has been a great distraction for all of us. We go outside and Cian shoots and shoots and shoots. The basketball is too heavy still for him, so he uses a rubber bounce ball. He can make shots with that pretty well. The main thing, I guess, is that we are all outside playing together. Family Fun -The best exercise you can get!

New Things

Learning new things is the key to keeping an active, young brain, body and soul. Change is hard, but it is also important in the mix. Both Chad and I are becoming involved in new things. Chad is beginning to train as a boat mechanic, and I am going to begin teaching on-line. It is all frightening and exciting at the same time. That is the key, I think, to the growth and learning that occurs at these moments. I feel alive in the springtime! Continue reading

I like NACOS

It is so wonderful to see so many new faces on the blog list, and it is wonderful to see so many familiar faces on the blog list. I am going to work harder to learn how to use this tool better and interact with more of you more often!

Midori– I am going to take a picture of the picture that you drew of Chad, and Cian and me. Was it maybe 4 years ago already? Is it ok with you that we post it here? What else have you been drawing? I would like to see and buy your book some day! I still don’t seem to have enough books!

Yumiko- Congratulations!!!!!! I can’t wait to see you again!

Miwa – You did stay at my house, yes? It would be so wonderful for our children to meet each other this way again, if not in person.

So many friends that I do not see as often as I think of them!

It’s raining, it’s pouring!

When I was little we used to sing this weird little song when it rained. It’s raining, it’s pouring, the old man is snoring. He bumped his head, wet the bed, and couldn’t get up in the morning! It is nonesense, but has been in my head because it has been raining a lot recently. How much is a lot? In last Friday’s paper, it listed Punaluu with 22 inches of rain in two days. It was very dramatic. Mainly, the roads were closed, and we missed work. That is the frustrating part. Our house is safe and sound though and that is really all that matters. So many people had flooding in their yards and homes. Nature shows it’s power!
