Ikaga desu ka?

Ikaga desu ka? I am doing well.  It’s very hot here and it rains alot as well.  The college courses I’ve taken so far have gone well. Boku wa Nihongo o narattei imasu. But I don’t get to speak japanese every day though.  I’ve learned asking question so that I can go shopping.  I can ask to try thinks on an how much they cost, but I haven’t had any real conversations with any Japanese people. I can usually under stand most of what people are saying if they speak slowly.

The people on the train don’t really wanna be botheded they just stare at the floor or close there eyes and sleep until their stop.   I moved from my old apartment to a new one in Nokendai, which is in Yokohama city. I also have internet access so I can write to you more often. I hope Continue reading

I’ve been very busy …

I’ve been very busy since my arrival in Japan.  I live in Yokohama now. I have recently begun to get settled in which has freed up more of my time.  I gone to Kamakura to see the temples and the large Budda statue.  I plan on exploring more of Japan now that I have more free time. I’m also taking Japanese language lessons again.

It’s getting really hot and humid here.  I still don’t have Internet in my house but I will have it soon.  I have to open a bank account at the bank of Yokohama.  The Internet providers won’t accept payment from American banks. Continue reading

Horrible food

I served on a submarine once and, at first, the food wasn’t bad_in fact, it was actually pretty good. But as the weeks went on, our mission was extended beyond our food supply. As a result, the cooks aboard became quite creative. For example, they used brown sugar and hot water as a substitue for maple syrup. Yuck!!! The only meat onboard was ham, which I don’t like, and fish which I think was going bad. We also ran out of most of our condomints and sugar. Needless to say, I wasn’t too happy and wasn’t about to eat any of that crap. Luckily, they had an ungodly amount of hot dogs and baked beans, which I as don’t like but at least I could stomach it as oppose to the alternative. But eventually we got an end of mission message and pulled in. Continue reading

Mt. Fuji

Through out last year I traveled quite a bit with a few of my friends. The beginning of my journey took me from Hawaii to Yokosuka, Japan. Where we stay for nine days. During our stay, my friends and I traveled to a few of the sites in Japan.

Our second day there we left our hotel early and headed of the train station. In order to get to Mt. Fuji early enough to climb up and come back down the mountain before night fall.

When we arrived at our final stop we then had to get a bus that took you from the very base of the mountain to the beginning of the trail.

The ride was long and at some points very steep. When we finally arrived we all stopped at the shops at the beginning of the trail and bought supplies. We bought walking stick also, as souvenirs. Continue reading
