「Lolita」という本を読み終わりました。やっぱり、物語はうっとうしいです。でも、この本は美しく書かれていました！Nabokovさんは見事に書いています。私は本の最後で、彼の伝記を読むまで、英語が彼の第二言語だという事をわかりませんでした。

I finished reading Lolita, and the story did turn out to be depressing… but it was a beautifully written book!  Vladimir Nabokov writes gorgeously — I didn’t even know that English was his second language until I read his biographic blurb. Continue reading →

職場のエアコンがこわれたので、現在、とても大きな扇風機を使っています。まだ暑すぎます。上司は、「半ズボンの着用を許可する」と言ってくれました。「やった！」　しかし、私は、今週いっぱい、会議がありますので、半ズボンをはくことが出来ません。：（

The air conditioning at work is broken right now, so we have a bunch of these humongous fans all through our office.  It’s so hot in here that my director said we could wear shorts to work!  I have meetings all week, though, so I can’t.  😦

先週から、シャワー中に、節水を心がけています。いつも、私のシャワーは長くなければなりません。それに、つめたいシャワーをすることができません。それで、これが私のいつものです：

1. ぬらして、シャワーをしめます。
2. シャンプーをして、身体をせっけんで洗います。
3. ゆすいで、シャワーをしめます。
4. かみのけをコンディショナーして、顔を洗います。
5. ゆすいで、シャワーをしめます。

これはホノルル市の考えです。いいですね！：）

ショッピングモールのファンシーなお茶屋さんで、５０グラムのお茶を＄１０という値段はいいと思います。でも、普通の食料品店で、２００グラムのお茶が＄９は高すぎると思います。このような私の感じ方は良くないですね。。。　私は良く教育されたアメリカの消費者です！：D

It’s pretty bad how I’ll go to the fancy, beautifully decorated tea store in the mall and buy 50 grams of tea for $10 because I think it’s cheap, but I don’t want to buy 200 grams of tea from the regular grocery store for $9 because I think it’s too expensive.  I am a well-trained American consumer!
