Half Marathon

It’s been almost two weeks since I ran in the Air Force marathon in Ohio. It was my first marathon ever. Actually, I did the half not the full. Still, 13.1 miles is a long way to run especially since I wasn’t sure if I was even going to make it to the event. I started training in June and experienced a foot injury in mid-August, which caused me to stopped running for almost three weeks. I went to see a doctor to be sure I could still run. She cleared me but warned that I should be cautious and not overdue the running. Well, I made it to Ohio having ran very little the last few weeks leading up to the event. I was afraid at first, but my husband’s encouragement pushed me forward. And although I knew I could have walked if I needed to, I was able to slowly run the entire way and I did it in a little over 2 1/2 hours, which was half an hour shorter than my goal of 3 hours. The best part of the entire experience was being able to share this great moment with my family.
