Life as a New Mom

Life has been hectic the last seven weeks. We brought home our new baby girl, and she has been a handful. The first two nights I slept very little, was swollen, and in a lot of pain. I think I was in some type of trance the first week really. Thank goodness my mother was visiting. My husband and I were clueless on how to handle a baby, and my mother was a great deal of help. I didn’t always follow her advice, but it was good to know she would lend a hand were she could. It’s been almost two months later, and I can’t believe how much she is growing not only physically but mentally and socially. She smiles more and tries to talk to us. She stares in amazement as she learns more about this world outside the womb. It feels like just yesterday we brought her home from the hospital. I’ll have to admit though that life has not been easy. She cries and fusses like all babies do. We just weren’t aware of how much. I’m glad my husband is here to help out because taking care of a newborn is a hard work especially for someone who doesn’t know what she is doing. I admire single parents who go at it alone. Much respect for them.
