A whale of a tale:

On Jan 5, 2009 I was teaching a 13 year old boy how to scuba dive. I just got done teaching his father so his father was watching as we went below the surface of the water. All of a sudden, the boy points behind me with his eyes wide open. To my surprise, as well as his, there was a 35 foot humpback whale just three feet behind me. The whale had passed by us as if to say, “Hello.” Since these creatures are so big I was afraid they might hurt either one of us so I quickly tried to get the young boy out of the water as soon as possible. Then as we got close to the boat, another whale appeared. There we were, me and a 75 pound child amongst two gentle giants. I finally got the boy on the boat without either of us getting hurt. The boy didn’t get to dive, but he and his father will have a memory that will last a lifetime.
