Small World

Last summer, I had the opportunity to participate in an internship program with other college students and work in Japan for 2 months. Everyone was placed in a different company. I was placed at a small t-shirt manufacturing company. It was very exciting for me because it was an opportunity for me to step out of my comfort zone and meet new people. Occasionally, the other interns and I would go have some fun and go clubbing on the weekend. One weekend, we went to Roppongi, which was a district of Tokyo that had a lot of foreigners. We went to a lot of different clubs that night but at the last club, something very unexpected happened. I was dancing and then I randomly saw someone that I went to high school in Italy with. It was weird because first of all, I haven’t seen or talked to this person in over 4 years and second, I met him in Tokyo where there are over millions of people. We talked for a little bit and I found out that he was in the US Air Force and was stationed in Japan. It is hard to believe that I would randomly bump into him at a club in Tokyo. I guess we really do live in a small world.
