I attended Dance Aliamanu’s first Banquet, this past Friday at Pacific Beach Hotel in the Grand Ballroom. There was about 300 people, including 10 from Kauai who performed a routine for us. There were also several celebreties, Melveen Leed (entertainer) , Liana Green Wright (Mrs. Hawaii 2009), Micah Banks (DJ for radio 104.3, Kehaulani Christian (Miss Hawaii 2002), and and others. They partnered up with a Dance instructor to perform 6 different dances.

The food was great, Sashimi, Miso Butterfish, Teriyaki Beef, Mochiko Chicken, 6 different kinds of salads, fruit plate of Pineapple, Cantalope, Honey Dew Melon and Watermelon, Sushi Platter, and dessert table of Pineapple cheesecake, custard pie , coconut cake, peach crumb pie, Chocolate strawberry cake and etc. When they have that many good dishes to eat, I find it’s best to pick only your favorite, that way you don’t overeat and can enjoy the rest of the evening.

Group Routines consisted of a Tango by the Instructors, Cha Cha and Rumba medley by Dance Aliamanu, Waltz by Lihue Kauai Ballroom Dance Club, and Jive & Quickstep medley by International group of Dance Aliamanu.

It was a wonderful event to attend and very entertaining, especially when sharing it with friends!
