Recently, my mom sent me this email about Rice Field Art in Japan. Apparently, farmers create huge murals in their rice fields by planting different color rice plants in strategically arranged positions. They plant yellow and purple leafed Kodaimai rice along with their local green-leafed Tsugaru. It is hard to see the whole picture from ground level but from a higher vantage point, it is an incredible masterpiece. This type of art was started in 1993 as a local revitalization project.

What a beautiful rice field!
Do you think these leaves grow to become rice?

Yes I think so. But I wonder if different color leaves makes the rice taste different?
