Nowdays, my name Karen is hardly used anymore.  But when I was in School there were usually 2 and up to 5 Karens in one classroom.  There were many  named John, Susan, William, Amy, and Donald.  I think that it was influenced by the movies and TV, things that were popular at the time.

Now it’s Michelle, Sean, Dave,Selina, Clinton, and all popular movie star’s names.  I guess what we see has great impact on what we do and say.  People want to change their names because they idolize a person and want to become like them whether it is handsome, pretty, macho, strong and popular.

People nowdays are even being named after objects and stores.  For example Chanel, Tiffany, Travis (Air Force Base), Porche, and etc. It’s fun to see what names people will be named in the future, Dell, Celly, Rocket, and maybe Manolo Blanik!
