I work in a restaurant in Waikiki and it amazes me how many tourists that we still get in our restaurant. With the current state of the economy, I would expect tourism to go down in Hawaii but every time I go to work, it still seems like the majority of our customers are tourists, mostly from Japan and Australia. I mean I’m sure that tourism has gone down but we still get a lot of them. I’m not sure why this is but is it because prices for hotels/airline tickets are dropping as a result of the economy??  Whatever it is, I’m just glad that I’m working somewhere where business seems steady.
