As the economic crisis continues to affect many American lives, I keep thinking about how it has affected my own life; particularly my job. I work at high end restaurant and to me, it seems like we are still doing well. I mean, it wasn’t as busy as it was before but I feel like we are still making good money. I’ve have talked to some of my other friends that work at other restaurants and they say that they can really feel the effects of the economy. It really makes me appreciate having my job after hearing that kind of stuff. Its interesting to note that a lot of our customers are tourists and even during hard times, they are still flocking to Hawaii. I found some statistics about tourism in Hawaii and in Jan of 2008, about 360,000 tourists came to Oahu. One year later, about 320,000 tourists came. So overall, the amount of tourists arriving in Oahu has gone down 11%, which I think is not too bad. A lot of our business comes from these tourists and I am just glad that they still love Hawaii.
