Getting In Shape

Recently I have been playing basketball at the park and I realize how OUT of shape I am. I mean, I could be shooting baskets for 15 mins and get tired. I don’t think its a matter of me being not working out because I go to the gym like 4 times a week. Its just a matter of me not running or doing any type of cardio in long time. Its funny because when I was going to high school in Italy, I remember being able to run all day without any problem. It might have helped that I played sports during all the season and was practically training all year long but that is besides the point. I especially remember basketball season, where sometimes we had to drive 5-8 hours to schools and then immediately play a game right after we got off the bus. And then on top of that, we would have to sleep in sleeping bags in the gym we just played in and then play another game the very next morning. I get exhausted just thinking about it now but the back then, I don’t remember being overwhelmingly tired or unable to handle it. Well, maybe I was tired after the game, but during the game, I thought I could run all day. And here I am now, three years later, and I can barely play for 15 mins without getting tired. I really need to start running again and get back into shape so that I don’t feel like an old man.
