Last night I went to the opera.  It’s the first time I’ve been in a very long time. I went with a coworker and her friend. We started off by having sushi at a nice place. The sushi was really really good.  Afterwards we headed off to the theater to see Carmen.  I had no idea what the opera was even about but once I heard some of the songs I began to recognize them. They are often in commercials.  The play was nice, though at times it dragged on more than I wanted. The lady next to me was falling asleep during the first act.  I nodded off a bit during the middle of act 2. The story was one of love, jealousy, and murder. The typical drama stuff. The main character dies at the hand of her ex-lover. She reaped what she sowed; it was her foolishness that got her in the situation. She convinces him to leave everything for her and when she is done using him she tries to get rid of him like yesterdays garbage. Little did she know he wouldn’t be so easy to dispose of.  He ends up taking her life because he can’t bear to part from her.  The songs were good; the play was decent. The night was fun.
