Ubuntu

So after two weeks of messing with my computer I finally got everything working again. I had some issues with it. I tried to updated my operating system. I’m currently using Linux, Ubuntu 7.10. I tried to upgrade to ubuntu 8.10. It’s the newest release that came out in October. Now I have no issues with the previous release, 7.10. (Actually it’s been almost perfect, so much so I’ve decided to avoid going back to Windows at any cost. Sure I have to give up certain programs which don’t work on Linux, but I’m not really missing much at this point.) The reason for the upgrade of Linux versions wasn’t because of any trouble with Ubuntu 7.10 but because I wanted to upgrade for the sake of upgrading. Think of it as getting the newest car model. After a failed attempt to get the newest Ubuntu to work on my laptop I am back to last year’s release. The April release, 8.04, still doesn’t work as I want either. Neither of the lastest two versions of Ubuntu are bad. I just had some minor problems that I prefered not deal with for the moment. For now I’m going to stick with 7.10 until my computer crashes and I need to reinstall an newer OS or the support for 7.10 runs out, which it will in April 2009.
