My co-worker from Japan said that when she moved here, she was surprised when she looked in the meat section of the supermarket — she said that in Japan, the supermarkets just have a small selection of beef, and it’s all really high-quality and super expensive. If you can’t afford it, then you just don’t buy beef for dinner. When she came here, she was surprised to see such a wide range of quality and price; she thought it was nice that anyone could afford to buy beef, although she wasn’t really keen on buying the lower grades herself. :>
