Trip to Big Island

For my 4th time, my family to a trip to Big Island. I was a bit disappointed because I thought we were going to travel to New York, but it turns out I was gravely mistaken. We traveled from Hilo to Kona, which took about 2 hours of constant driving. At least there wasn’t any traffic! We also went to Kilauea, the volcano crater, which was very beautiful. We also stayed at a nice Hilton hotel for three days, and then moved to the Kilauea Camp for the rest of our trip. I think I like Oahu better than Big Island though. There’s no place like home!

Gee, Travis! “Gravely mistaken” is putting it mildly! How on earth did a trip to NYC get changed to the Big Island? I’d be disappointed, too! Travis, any time you have an opportunity to visit New York City, please TAKE IT! New York is a truly wonderful city, and I hope that, when you go there, you can spend at least a week (remember, you’ll need to add three extra travel days just to get there and return). So, take a month off for your visit! I hope your summer has been a fun one!

Hopefuly I will but my future doesnt look too bright. My mom is a big New York Yankees fan, and woud love to go there too, but my father is a big time local, and wont get anywhere off the islands. I really want to experience the mainland life, becuase I’ll have to get used to it if I want to attend college in the mainland. I’d be glad to hear how you feel about New York, would you care to tell me a story you have of the place? Please and thank you.

Hi, Travis. Do not despair! The world is out there, just waiting for you! In the meantime, you live in one of the most beautiful places in the entire world. People here in Omaha continue to ask us “Why ever did you leave Hawaii? Of all places!” When I was 16, even visiting Hawaii was not in my list of dreams! And to think we lived there for a glorious 18 years! You are lucky you have a home in Hawaii, for many kids your age, over here, would trade places with you in a heartbeat.

About New York, yes, I would like to tell you about my experiences growing up in NJ, just across the George Washington Bridge from NYC. Send me an e-mail address, and I’ll start . . .

Take care, and keep your goals set high, and shoot for college on the mainland!

    Norman

PS: Yoko and I like your other portrait picture better–you look more insightful in it.
