Jena’s Kansas news

How are you? We have had a very busy summer.

Steve has had several people in our church’s houses to repair. He’s had to repair some bathrooms, roofs, tear down and build a porch for a widow. The people buy the materials and the church men donate the labor and time. Steve has also tried to work on our yard. We have had a lot of brush to clean up and trash from remodeling. when we get done, we will need to finish siding our house.

Our son, Steven, is now 27. He and his new wife moved in with us at the beginning of May and lived with us for about 7 weeks. I am glad they have moved. They live about five miles from us and he works in our town at a manufacturing plant.

In the middle of June we bought a pretty little puppy and named her Lola Mae. She is a Papillion which is French for butterfly. Her face is shaped like the face of a fox. She has been a lot of work and a lot of fun. We just started obedience classes with her last week.

There has been lots of flooding in the Midwest recently. Our hometown, Baxter Springs, Kansas was one of the first to get flooded. It got flooded in June. Steve’s town that he grew up in, Gainesville, Texas was flooded the next week. Since then four counties in our area of Kansas and many places in Oklahoma and Texas have been flooded.

Last week our 11 year old daughter, Leslie, went to church camp. As soon as we picked her up, we headed for Texas for a family reunion. While we were there we got to see our daughter, Jennifer, who is 25 and our grandchildren. Steve will have to send pictures as soon as he can.

Church keeps us busy. We have three services a week, two on Sunday and one on Wednesday. The church also does Angel Food Ministry, which I will explain later, and we are trying to help some of the people from the area that lost homes in the flooding. Steve works two jobs on the weekdays also. I still home school Leslie, which will be starting back up soon.

God Bless,
Jena Fellers
