Frustration

Yesterday, I was working and was amazed to see a Japanese guest who was upset. I guess he had a longer wait than usual and wanted to express how he was feeling to the waiter, but the waiter did not really speak Japanese. So the waiter went and got the manager to let him know the guest was upset, but the manager doesn’t understand Japanese either, which I think might have made the guest even more upset because he was having a very hard time expressing what he was feeling. Then the mangager got someone who understands Japanese and the message was translated and relayed. After the message was translated a decision could be made about how to solve the problem for this guest. It all worked out in the end, but I can imagine the frustration the guest was having since his language skills were limited in English. Like being a small child and trying to express your real feelings, yet not quite having the vocabulary to really get your message across.
