Working for the Government

The common stereotype of working for the government is true for Hawaii. The time it takes for the government to do things are very slow. I guess its because once you work for the government it is hard to fire that person. In addition to that there is a lot of red tape(extra procedures) that must be done before any action can be completed. My experience in working with the state is a very frustrating one. For example, I perform contract work for the state – and sometimes it takes months before I get paid. Sometimes a contract will get lost mysteriously. And understaffing is a common explanation for their slowness.
