３月２２日、運命の日は来た。センター試験は失敗し、前期試験に不合格、最後の望みをかけた後期試験の発表。
親父は朝からいらいらしていた。電子郵便が実家の新宮にはかなり遅く届くためもあるし、親父が本人以上に緊張していたというのもあったと思う。
親父と喧嘩腰に言葉をかわした後、ネットカフェに向かった。ばくばくなる心臓を抑えながら合格発表のページをそっと開いた。
合格
家に電話して親父に自分の受験番号をもう一度確認して、合格を伝えた。電話した後、静かに泣いた。
俺は見えなかったけど、おかんも家の事務を手伝ってくれているNさんも、そして、おとんもみんな嬉し泣きをしたみたい。
長いようで短い二年。こうして俺の受験生活は終わり、新たなスタートラインに立った。
いろいろな人に支えられ、一歩一歩、歩んだ一年だった。これからの俺の頑張りが、いままで支えてくれた人への恩返しと思って精進していきたいと思います。
March 22, the day that would decide my destiny, had come. I had not done well on the National Center Test for University Admissions, failed the mid-term exam, and today was the day that the results of the final exam, which was my last hope, would be announced.
My father was nervous from early in the morning. The delivery of the announcement to my parents’ home in Shinguu being quite late contributed to his anxiety along with the fact that I think my father was more anxious than I was, to begin with.
After exchanging angry words with my father, I headed for the internet cafe. Calming my pounding heart, I cautiously opened the web page that announced the results.
Success!
I called my house and, after reconfirming my examination number, I reported my success. After I finished my call, I quietly wept.
I didn’t see it for myself, but it seems that my mother, N-san who looks after our household affairs, my father, and everyone else also cried tears of joy.
It was a mere two years that seems like forever. With that, my life preparing for the exam was over and I stood at a new starting line.
It was a year in which I walked, step-by-step, with the support of many people. From here on, I think I would like to repay all the people who supported me to this point and focus my efforts on being diligent in improving myself and growing as a person.

Thank you Morrison! I wanted to have a big party. But I had to move to college from hometown.
Maybe I go to Hawai in this summer! So I’m looking forward with seeing you!

Hi Masa
How are you doing, We are doing fine and yes we’re still doing home stay. We enjoy having students like you coming and have a good time here, and we’re especially happy to hear that you have done so well for yourself. A few students still write and call to tell us what’s happening. One day we would like to visit you and your family in Japan and see you at your office or hospital that you are working at. We really miss you Masa you were our first Home stay that makes you special. Cheryl and myself would like to congratulate you in getting into med school. We had no doubt that you could do it because you try really hard all the time, like how you pursuit your girlfriend. We’re very proud of you Masa.
