There are a lot of Japanese guests that eat at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse. One weird thing that I have come across is guests speaking completley in Japanese to me, before they even know that I speak Japanese. For example I come up to the table and say “good evening welcome to Blah Blah.” Then immediately they respond in Japanese and start talking about things on the menu in Japanese to me. I still haven’t let them know that I understand what their saying and they continue to talk like this. I am trying to figure out if they somehow sense that I speak or understand what their saying in Japanese or if its the only way they know how to communicate and they hope that I’ll get their order right. I just think it’s weird that they will speak in complete Japanese to a stranger and act as if he/she understands what they are saying!
