I served on a submarine once and, at first, the food wasn’t bad_in fact, it was actually pretty good. But as the weeks went on, our mission was extended beyond our food supply. As a result, the cooks aboard became quite creative. For example, they used brown sugar and hot water as a substitue for maple syrup. Yuck!!! The only meat onboard was ham, which I don’t like, and fish which I think was going bad. We also ran out of most of our condomints and sugar. Needless to say, I wasn’t too happy and wasn’t about to eat any of that crap. Luckily, they had an ungodly amount of hot dogs and baked beans, which I as don’t like but at least I could stomach it as oppose to the alternative. But eventually we got an end of mission message and pulled in.
