Thanks for your help, Andrew!

Hi,

I was able to get my computer to let me read and write Japanese in Microsoft Office (I see the language toolbar like Andrew described), so I think if you attach documents with Japanese in them, I'll probably be able to read them, assuming my Windows computer doesn't have problems with your Mac documents. I just can't read Japanese text that you write directly into the emails, since I look at my emails directly out of Hotmail, and Hotmail doesn't render the characters for me.

Were you able to open the attachment in my other emails? I'm attaching it
again, just in case; I wrote a sentence in Japanese in it.

Thanks for your help, Andrew!

Hi Allison,

This is Andrew. Shuzo asked me to help you with Japanese on your computer.
What software are you using? If you have Microsoft Office, you can download
Microsoft's Global IME software from their website. You also need to
download the Japanese Language Pack which is also free. Just do a search for "Microsoft global IME Japanese" and you should be able to find a download site. You need to download the one that is specific to your operating system. Once you download these, you have to install them and then you shoudld see an icon on the lower right on the taskbar that says "EN." If you click on that, you should have a popup menu that gives you the option to select "JP." You should then be able to type in Japanese using any Microsoft Office product, including Explorer. I think I remember Hotmail having trouble with Japanese, but I'm not at my computer right now so I can't really check it out. If you have any questions, you can email me . Good luck.

Andrew
