Big fish, Small Tank

We feel like big fish in a little tank. Our fish feel the same way literally. The fish were little when we got them and now they are enormous for their tank. We were little when we got together in our little apartment and now we’ve out grown it. I can’t wait till we can get a bigger place and I think our fish feel the same way. Continue reading

Compadres Changing

Compadres is changing over its management staff. One person was let go, another turned in their two weeks and I as well turned in my two weeks. I start training for my new job March 1st. I think Compadres will be okay, but it is just crazy to think of all the changes going on within. The resturant business is a business of turnovers and high risk, but the rewards can be good when done right.

Valentines Day

As a couple this isn’t a big celebrated holiday for us. We like the signifigance of it, but we don’t go all out and buy each other a bunch of stuff. However, I did at least get her a card and wrote down the reasons I loved her. It was funny to see all the guys late last night at Safeway scrambling to get cards, candy, flowers etc…. I guess it is better to have something than nothing at all for your significant person on this day.

Map of Japan

Today I have a test on Japan. I need to indentify 10 important places out of about 70. Michiko was helping me with the different regions and place names, which was really helpful. I believe that understanding the geography and layout of Japan is vital to my success with the Japanese.

Poipu, Kauai

This weekend my wife and I went over to Kauai. We spent our time in a condo that my grandparents rented in Poipu. It was so beautiful over there and we really enjoyed ourselves. If you ever get a chance to go to Kauai, then definetly check out the Poipu on the southshore.

Feeling Free Forgetfully

Yesterday on my way to NACOS to study Japanese I was running a little behind schedule and ran out the door to try an make it there on time. While I was riding my moped down the road I felt light as a feather or free as a bird in the wind, then I started thinking I feel a little bit to light. That is because I had forgotten to bring my backup full of school books. I was already pulling up to NACOS when this thought hit me. So I had to cut my lesson short and head home early to get my backpack, but it made me laugh for a moment and think about when your in a rush you forget little things that can throw off your day. A little reminder to always take your time and think clearly before walking/running out the door.

New Project

Michiko and Shuzo showed me a new project today involving Kanji and how to seperate key words. I’m so excited to get started on this new project. I can read Hiragana easily, but the Kanji is what gets me and I can’t wait to be able to read fluently in Japanese. Reading fluently in Japanese has been a goal of mine for sometime now and I want to make it a reality as soon as possible.

Learning

I am now in my upper-division classes in college and I love it. It is exciting for me to go to class and see how certain issues relate to one another. I’m also excited about my Japanese lessons at NACOS and how the lessons there have evolved. Everyday I learn more and also learn how to express the way I feel about things in Japanese and English.
