US-Korean Relations

Last night I volunteered for a US-Korea Conference, called  “Navigating Turbulence in East-Asia.” The event is four days long, with all sorts of great and interesting speakers. For example, last night the former Foreign Minister of Korea 1993-94, and Korean Ambassador to US during 2003-2005 spoke. He had a lot of interesting thoughts and was in office, during crucial times, especially when North Korea announced that it had actual nuclear weapons to the world. This sort of thing, nuclear proliferation, continues to be a serious issue amongst scholars and government officials as it can be detrimental to hurting so many people, if the actor is irrational. I find it interesting as well that I like Japanese and want to learn more about Japan at school, but I am constantly exposed to Korea in and outside of the classroom. I feel that they are aggressively pursing a stronger relationship with the US, which tells me that they are subtlety  worried about what Kim Jung Il may do, with what he actual posses.
