The Master

We recently had a mandatory meeting with a Master Sommolier. I’m not really certain on the spelling of that so please forgive me. For those individuals that do not know what a Master Sommolier is allow me to elaborate: a Master Sommolier is a board certified master in almost all things wine, especially service. I’m sure has heard of a conosuier he is a specialist and enjoys one facet of a bigger picture. A Master Sommolier is someone who is acredited and understands not only the process, but the intracies of service and also he is a conosuier. I believe that there are only 2 Masters here in Hawaii. I have met both of them and learned a lot of what I use today in my repotiore. This Sommolier was from the mainland and showed us more bottle service as a review. Although I thought we would have the opportunity to taste some great wines I was mistaken and we just were taught service aspect. After his lesson he fielded some questions which helped to better some misunderstandings some may have with a particular portion of a wine service. To be perfect is impossible but to strive to perfection constantly is perfection in it’s self.
