Not too long ago, I voluntered for the Hawaii Special Olympics. It was sponsered by the Navy and many other fine places, which made it possible to have such a great event. I was scared at first because it was my first time doing an event like this, and there must have been 200 competitors! There are many games, from soccer, to track, and Bocce. When the officials were teaching us how to be good referee’s, I was getting really nervous. What if I made a mistake? But it turns out I didn’t really have to make too many calls because the athletes already knew what to do. I met a lot of new people, and made some friends. It makes you understand that we’re all people, and not so different after all.
