I thought that I should write about another event I had the other night at the restaurant. 6 Japanese ladies came in for dinner and when they sat down, I could tell right away that we weren’t going to be speaking any English. Again, I thought to myself these ladies must be brave, they speak little to no English, but their in Hawaii at a nice restaurant and must feel like they will be able to get their wants and needs across successfully. Of course they did the old “sumimasen order ii desu ka?” and I responded by saying “sumimasen, demo watashi wa nihongo shaberahen, gomenasai zen zen wakarehen!” They immediately were struck with surprise and aww and were trying to figure out if I was being serious or just joking with them. I was just joking of course and they ended up having an amazing meal, followed by a monster photo session after dinner with all the girls. They asked me “deibido sashin tottemo ii desu ka?” to which I responded “hai, demo 500 yen desu!” they responded “Eh, yasui desu ne!” to which we all laughed together once again.
