Haiku Poem – 海の王族クジラ

our whales are back
mothers guiding their calves
ocean royalty

新季節海の王族子供連れ
しんきせつ うみ の おうぞく こどもづれ

Even though there have been a few sightings of whales since last December, I had my first real big sighting this January. A Mother was guiding her calf in fairly shallow water, about 16 meters or so and slowly swimming back and forth for about 20 minutes until they descended. For the next few months this will be a regular occurrence.

 去年の12月は遠くからたまに鯨が見える程度でしたが、今年の1月ははっきり見えるようになりました。一頭の母親鯨が16メートル位の深さで赤ちゃん鯨を連れて、行ったり来たりゆっくり泳いでいました。海中に姿を消すまで20分ぐらい船から見ることが出来ました。これから2ヶ月か3ヶ月間は鯨がよく見えるお楽しみの期間です。
