Haiku Poem –

brown west side
puts on her green coat
Winter is coming

(Jim Woodhull)

For the average person visiting Hawaii there may seem to be no seasons but if you live here for at least one whole year it is easy to see the differences in the seasons although they are not as extreme as in other places. One of the differences that is very obvious is how the color of the mountain sides change between the summer and winter. The west side of Oahu is very dry. There are often bush fires in the summer but as winter approaches there is more rain and the mountain sides go from brown to a very beautiful green. Just seeing a picture of the mountains it is easy to say what season it was taken.
