Collaborative Haiku Poem – ポリネイターガーデン

flowers and insects
helping each other
pollinator garden

花と虫持ちつ持たれつ助け合い
はな と むし　もちつ もたれつ　たすけあい

This summer, flowers grew very well, much better than in previous years, and the number of insects, particularly bees, increased considerably. Our pollinator garden seems to be on the right track. Both healthy flowers and vigorous insects are integral to a successful pollinator garden.

　今年の夏は、気候に恵まれたせいもありますが、花の出来がこれまでになく良く、昆虫も多数で、3年前に始めたポリネイターガーデンもようやく軌道に乗ったようです。ポリネイターガーデンは植物のポリネーション、すなわち、授粉作用に欠かせない昆虫の生存を促進するガーデンを意味します。よく育った植物は昆虫に豊富な蜜を提供し、昆虫の増加は植物成長を助けると、両者は持ちつ持たれつの関係にあることを身近に観察できました。
