オーストラリア、キャンベラの連邦国会議事堂に行きました。

The other week when Bali and I were in Canberra we took a visit to the Commonwealth Parliament House. This is where the politicians for the federal (nation-wide) government meet to propose and to vote on new laws that are proposed . Our Australian system of government is a lot like England. We have a bicameral upper house and lower house like England’s House of Lords and House of Commons. These houses represent both Australia wide broken up into equal divisions of approximately 100000 people each senator in the Lower House and the Upper House represents the states with the same amount of Senators for each state ( 5 senators I believe) and the two smaller territories in Australia have two senators each. When I graduate I would like to work as a lawyer contributing in some way to the governing of Australia at Parliament House.

　２週間前、私は息子とキャンベラにいました。その時、私たちは連邦国会議事堂に行きました。ここでは連邦政府の政治家が集まり、新しい法律を提案したり採決します。オーストラリアの政治制度は英国とよく似ています。英国の上院や下院のように、オーストラリアにも二院制の上院と下院があります。これら二院は、オーストラリア全土を約１０万人単位で等分割し、上院と下院の議員がいます。各州にはそれぞれ同じ数の上院議員がいます。確か５人の上院議員だと思います。オーストラリアの２つの小さな領土には、それぞれ２人の上院議員がいます。私は、大学を卒業したら、国会議事堂でオーストラリアの統治に何らかの形で貢献する弁護士として働きたいと思います。
