Haiku Poem – 障害物レース

body stuck

どろ の もち ころげて はしる もくてきち

もち にてる どろ を つうか し どりょくしょう

(Michiko version)
どろ まみれ なんかん とっぱ ゴールイン

どろ だらけ コース を はしり だいしょうり

On a cold day in the middle of May, I went for a ten kilometer run. However, this was no ordinary run. Actually, it was a race. The race was on an obstacle course. The course was in the middle of the Iowa countryside. Everyone that raced got dirty because there was mud everywhere. To complete the obstacles, you had to run, climb and even swim through mud. Actually, I didn’t mind the mud as much as the cold. Even though it was kind of miserable to be wet and dirty, I felt a sense of accomplishment by finishing the race.
