Now it is spring time in Hawaii. Normally waves are starting on the south shore. Although there were no waves last weekend there were a lot of people in the water. So I went surfing with a friend. We were hopeful there would be waves. But we ended up sitting in the water for 2 hours. By sunset, we only caught one wave. Defeated, we paddled in and called it a day. Hopefully next time we’ll be luckier.

　今、ハワイは春です。いつもならサーフィンに適した波は、オアフ島の南から増え始めます。先週末、波はありませんでしたが、海には、たくさん人がいました。そこで、私は友達とサーフィンに行くことにしました。良い波が来るのを期待して、２時間ぐらい、海で泳いだり、サーフボードの上に座って待ちました。しかし結局、日が沈むまでに一回、小さい波をとらえただけでした。がっかりでした。その日は切り上げて、海岸に戻りました。次回は、波に恵まれることを期待しています。
