Haiku Poem – 裏庭の鹿

living river runs
brown deer green leaves
past home flows

(Ben version)
鹿の群れ窓越しに見る生きる川
しか の むれ まどごし に みる いきる かわ

(Michiko version)
鹿遊ぶ小川のほとり庭の窓
しか あそぶ おがわ の ほとり にわ の まど

There are many deer that pass through the woods behind my house. Sometimes there are male deer with antlers. At other times, there are female deer with young fawns. The deer never move alone. In fact, they always travel in small groups. I like to watch them through the window.

 私の家の裏には林があります。そこを、たくさんの鹿が通ります。時々、枝角を持つ雄鹿が、またある時には、若い子鹿を連れた雌鹿が通ります。鹿は、単独で動くことはありません。実際、彼らはいつも小さなグループを作り、一緒に行動します。私は、それを窓越しに見るのが好きです。
