Collaborative Haiku Poem – 雪の朝

a snowy morning
scarlet wings fly
cardinals

雪の朝紅き翼のカーディナル
ゆき の あさ　あかき つばさ の カーディナル

snow pilling up
red wings fly high
cheer me up

(Michiko version)
カーディナル赤く舞立つ雪の朝
カーディナル　あかく まいたつ　ゆき の あさ

Since the end of November, it has been below freezing temperature in Nebraska. In spite of my worry for the safety of little wild birds in cold snowy morning, they fly across the sky, as if to say “Don’t worry about us.” It is particularly wonderful to see red wings of cardinals in the morning haze.

　ネブラスカでは11月の末以来、零下の気温が続いています。雪の積もった朝などは小鳥たちの無事が心配ですが、そんな御気使いは無用とばかりに視野を横切って飛ぶ鳥を見ると、やれやれと安心します。特に、朝靄をぬって飛ぶカーディナルの赤い翼は見る者を元気付けます。
